Dalgety New South Wales

This shot was taken in Dalgety, New South Wales, on the first day of the year in 2019. Situated in a remote area with some of the darkest skies around, Dalgety is part of the traditional lands of the Ngarigo people, who have long had a deep connection to the land and its natural beauty.

This was one of my first serious Milky Way shots, and we were fortunate with the timing. As we were capturing the image, a car drove past at just the right moment, illuminating the house in the frame and adding an unexpected touch of light. The result is a unique shot that combines the stunning, clear sky with a bit of serendipitous light, perfectly capturing the quiet beauty of the landscape on that dark sky night.
