Mt Coolum Sunshine Coast

Mount Coolum, located on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, is deeply significant to the Gubbi Gubbi (Kabi Kabi) people. According to their traditional stories, the mountain is the resting place of a giant ancestral spirit who created the surrounding land. The mountain is said to be a representation of the spirit's final resting form, watching over the region. For the Gubbi Gubbi people, Mount Coolum holds cultural and spiritual importance as a sacred site, symbolizing connection to the land, the ancestors, and the natural world
